HOW MANY MORE BROKEN WINDOWS DO WE NEED BEFORE THE FILM AND VIDEO INDUSTRY IS COMPLETELY DESTROYED?

At Veredictum, we are committed to solving film piracy and video theft, with our objective to “Reduce film and video piracy by 80% within 10 years.”  It’s an ambitious project, but the way in which we are approaching the problem is different.

We are not approaching the problem with “Whack-a-Mole” style that you see at the fairgrounds. Instead, we are attacking the drivers that actually cause piracy and theft in the first place.

Whilst piracy and theft is very complex issues, they can be distilled down into two core elements: not being able to get access to content, when you want it, how you want, at a price point that is fair and reasonable and also because there aren’t enough deterrents in place.

OUR VISION

Veredictum’s vision is to reduce film and video piracy by 80% over the next ten years – but it can’t be done with the stick alone – it also needs the carrot.

We are building technology that allows for easier access to content and at price points that are fair, as well as improving the deterrents to catch pirates.

Combined we are committed to solve the piracy problem … permanently.

THE STORY

Stories are the very life-blood of every culture across the globe.

Through stories, wisdom is passed from generation to generation and, with it, our respective, cultural values.

Stories are under threat of extinction by a cancer that is eating away at the very heart and soul of the creative community and that is piracy.

THE PROBLEM

Film piracy costs the global economy over $12.5 billion per year.

It’s no longer restricted to large corporations, theft is spreading like cancer throughout social media – where videos are stolen from one social media platform and posted to another through what is known as “freebooting”.

Piracy, itself, is evolving and mutating, with pirates now even broadcasting live inside cinemas via social media.

When do we say enough is enough?
