Stories are the very life-blood of every culture across the globe.
Through stories, wisdom is passed from generation to generation, and, with it, our respective, cultural values. Stories are under threat of extinction by a cancer that is eating away at the very heart and soul of the creative community and that is piracy.
Film piracy costs the US Economy $20 billion a year, music piracy costs the global music industry $12.5 billion, and it’s not just restricted to large corporations, theft is spreading like cancer throughout social media – where videos are stolen from one social media platform to be reposted on another through what is known as “freebooting”.
Piracy, itself, is evolving and mutating, with pirates now even broadcasting live inside cinemas via social media.
When do we say enough is enough?
